(from Golden Anniversary of Alpha Sigma State 1941-1991)
When the Fall season wanes and Ol' Man Winter creeps in, the weather on the east side of the state begins to get a bit dicey and unpredictable for traveling. So to avoid any driving mishaps, technology has allowed me to do the next best thing...to visit chapters "virtually."
Chi Chapter President Sandy DeBruler assembled a tech team to connect with me using FaceTime. As a result, I had the opportunity to greet Chi members and share important state news, as well as to encourage members to embrace the opportunity to consider serving at the state level for the next biennium, since nominations are now being sought. Because the Thanksgiving holiday was approaching, I also enjoyed providing an inspirational thought regarding friendship.
One key concept discussed among the members was to improve their strategies to make better connections with one another and with younger members in order to retain membership.
Congratulations are in order for this active chapter! Chi is proud to announce they welcomed and inducted the very 1st collegiate member into DKG from Washington State! Members are looking forward to holding their December Holiday "Painting Party" Fundraiser and inviting many prospective members to join the fun!
After a short business meeting, retired middle school teacher, author and presenter John Simpson, ended the evening by discussing part 2 in his book series about the role of the Ellithorpe/Griggs women during the Civil War period. The fascinating main characters in this story are based on the authentic letters discovered in a trunk at the Cowlitz County Museum.
